Cahootify

Cahootify is the online project portfolio and team-forming platform for film, media and entertainment professionals.

With reference to current social media platforms including Twitter, Youtube and Facebook discuss the features of this social network and online community and how a film-maker could best use it alongside other social media marketing tools to create a professional online presence.

social media contains two sub-categories of social networks being the first and online communities being the second. Social networks revolve around a group of people you already know or have already met. social networks are inherently unique to each and every person who has one. Therefore social networks are pre-established relationships that have been built directly by you. examples of social networks are Facebook,Myspace and LinkedIn. Online communities are groups of people with different background but with the same interests coming together and creating a community/forum where everyone can speak freely about a certain topic of interest. The first online community was created in 1968 and was about Plato.”PLATO is a timesharing system. (It was, in fact, one of the first timesharing systems to be operated in public.)Throughout the 1960’s, PLATO remained a small system, supporting only a single classroom of terminals. About 1972, PLATO began a transition to a new generation of mainframes that would eventually support up to one thousand users simultaneously“.

Cahootify is a online website that enables creative people to easily make their ideas a reality as this website will link you with hundreds of other people either looking to be a creator or be apart of a project. This website allows you to easily link with other creative people so that you can quickly find your specialised team to complete your project to a high standard. I you want to find out more the ‘about Cahootify‘ section of Cahootifys meta-data asks and answers all the obvious questions you might have such as “who is Cahootify for ?”,” What does Cahootify do ?”, “What does Cahootify cost?” and “Our future plans” and give detailed answers. This website would be perfect for film-maker at it will grant them easy access to hundreds of actors,directors,make-up artists etc portfolios , which they are able to sort though and hand pick the best people they would want to work with.

A good way to use social media to establish a professional online presence is to use a online community like twitter where you can interact with millions of people whenever you want. Previously when I live tweeted a event on Twitter I felt that by engaging into a online community you were able to get your consumers own unique opinion on a matter and you are able to get constructive criticism.furthermore i think it will also help to increase your following as when i live tweeted i got 5 new followers. therefore if i constantly live tweeted my followers would increase. I think that this will enable film-makers to create a professional online presence as no only will film-makers get constructive criticism from content they upload but they can also interact with their target audience and see what they want, which will not only increase the quality of their work but they will also be creating a better impression of their self online, by having a better presence online film-maker might be able to attract the attention of produces that might offer them jobs.

For social networking sites such as Cahootify it needs to be visually pleasing and professional so that it will attract people that are serious about the task at hand.where as online communities are usually more creative and even people person profiles are less serious that social networks as online communities are a place for you to express yourself and find other people who share similar interests. On social media platforms such as youtube you are able to share your work with the world and online portfolio in order to get work. furthermore once you’re working with someone (depending on the project) you don’t need to be geographically near someone in order to work with them as you can connect to them vis Skype and sent the work that you’ve done over the internet.

Features that i would like to see in online social media sites like Cahootify is the opportunity for celebrity endorsement of my product or the opportunity to have a professional in the industry comment and cirque my product. this is because of 4 reasons:

  1. They have more experience and will know what I need to do to improve my skills.
  2. There is more of a chance that my product will go viral if a professional/celebrity which already has a established following promotes my work.
  3. By a celebrity/professional promoting my work could lead to a job offer.
  4. Your online presence will look more professional if a celebrity/professional has worked with you/helped you improve your work.

On Twitter there’s number of taxonomies that enables you to advertise your project. For example, you are able to like and share posts, you can follow people and retweet people. by doing all of the following you are able to get their attention which which might encourage them to check your profile out and follow you, i experienced this when I was live tweeting. This also crates a more professional profile on twitter as if you have more follower you have more  influence online and therefore more people will respect and listen to your opinions.

Twitter posts, known as ‘tweets’ are limited to 140 characters, therefore you need to make sure you are able to fit all you have to say within the word limit while trying to write something to gain the attention of people. within the post you’re able to upload videos that are up to 30 seconds long and people are able to watch the video without even clicking on them. As an advertising advantage you can ‘Pin’ these 30 second video posts so they appear at the top of your profile page, making it the first thing people see which means that the view count on that video will rise whenever anyone looks at your profile.

The folksonomies within Twitter include the usage of hashtags. Using Hashtags in tweets allows you to interact with and find people/communities who are used the same hashtag even if they are not following you on twitter. By using hashtags it enables you to to form a community and even advertise your work either though videos posted on the hashtag or links to other websites which contain your work. The reason why i think the hashtag is vital for marketing as it bring people who have similar interests such as vitamins into one big forum where they are able to speak about  which vitamin supplement is the best and why.

Below are screen shots of Cahootify on various social media websites. This is a good example of free advertising as by them having a presence on multiple websites Cahoofitys Klout score will rise, showing that they have having
more of a influence online. Furthermore when Cahootifys Klout score raised to above 50 then Cahootify will be invited to partake in events where other people with high Klout scores (50+) will attend which will allow them to connect with influential people and try to persuade them to use and promote Cahootify.

Linkedin is similar to Cahootify as it connects you to other professional people in the same industry and allows you to view their profile and see their previous expirences. But what makes Cahootify different is that it takes linkedin a step further as no only does Cahootify connect you to other people in the same industry but it also enables you ‘get the ball rolling’ by allowing people to sign up and actually start your project.

Another way to use social media as a marketing tool is to use a site called Facebook. Because of the taxonomies of Facebook you are able to create groups pages where you can bring together everyone who is interested in your product and advertise it to them. You can also find people with similar interests that want to help you produce your film.

The Folksonomy of Facebook include creating tags which tells people information about you for example your friends and mutual friends. This allows people to connect with other people by using someone who is a mutual friend as a intermediary. this will enable film makers to link with other people in the industry.

Youtube is a great way to for people to market themselves to the masses. this is because youtube gets over 3 billion views per day. Therefore if Cahootify is able to utilise  youtube and establish itself on that platform it will be able to market itself and what people produce on it. which will make it more appealing to create videos on and will make your portfolio look and sound more professional saying that you were part of cahootify who (for example) have over 1000000 subscriber.

The video below explains that Cahootify is for people who want to collaborate with other people and value unique talent is on the rise. as people want to enjoy their work the number of freelancers is rising by 3-4 times that of full time works.Which is why Cahootify is the perfect online platform for freelancers in creative industry to find work and increase your specialised portfolio by creating or joining other people projects.

Live Twitter

Today I took part live tweeting the xfactor finals part 1 of the show (the Saturday night show). I have to say i really enjoy the experience of being party of a online community where people with similar interests interact with each other and give their own views and opinions on the same matter. During my live tweeting session i got 5 new followers, 1 retweet and 2 likes which made the experience more enjoyable as it indicated to me that people liked and enjoyed reading my opinion.

Easy tips for starting a new blog with help from fellow blogger

Today i’m going to be collaborating with a fellow blogger called EM Devlin who is a artistic blogger, as i’m sure you can tell from the title of this blog post we are going to be telling you some easy tip on how to start a blog and what kind of content you should post.As a New Blogger i have a first hand experience of the hardships of blogging. From my own experience i can tell you that it’s not as easy as it seems which is why my first tip would be to

  1. Allocate an appropriate amount of time a week to post on your as i can assume you it’s not as quick as you think to generate good online content.
  2. know who you want to target. this means that you should already know the type of audience that you are targeting and you should do some research beforehand to see what kind of things they like e.g. lots of pictures and videos or lots of text.
  3. know how to use all the tools/widgets such as hyperlinking/anchor texts . there are websites such as Grovo which will teach you how to properly use different websites (if you’re struggling).
  4. Create a planner/ plan in advance what you want to post and when. this could mean planning something once a week for 4 months or planning one thing to right once a week.
  5. Try to create a relationship with your consumers/ interact with them as they will tell you what kind of articles they like and dislike which will enable you to see what type of articles your customer base respond most positively to.
  6. Give your unique opinion. this means don’t just agree with what other people before you have said, crate your own opinion with your own unique views.
  7. try link all your social media platforms to your blog to increase your view count/ to get your voice heard. Examples of social media platforms are Facebook,Twitter and Instagram
  8. Don’t be scared to ask people with more followers than you to do a collaboration as it mutually beneficial.
  9. don’t just preach also teach. This means try to educate your audience as well as entertain them
  10. Remember that your opinion matters no matter what people say to you
